The Top 6 Benefits of a Destination Wedding

Article by Justin Freud

Ever since they were little girls, most women often try to envision what their wedding day will look like. Will it take place in the church she grew up being a member of, or will it be a different church altogether? Then she will ask herself if the wedding will even take place in her own state.

From the outset, destination weddings can seem like more work to pull off than a traditional one. However, once the bride and groom to be begin researching destination weddings, they soon realize that not only is it doable, but it is also often more convenient in many ways than a traditional one. Here are the top six reasons why many brides and grooms choose destination weddings.

1. Less Decision Making

Believe it or not, moving the wedding out of state often requires less work from the bride and groom. It will often occur at a resort, a friend or family’s property, or any other place where many of the intricate details will already be taken care of.

In these types of marriages, intricate details like the food, drink, seating arrangements, order of events of the ceremony, choice of pastor, activities before and after the wedding, etc., are already taken care of. Often times the bride and groom select pre-arranged options and that is it. They make their decisions and the coordinator makes it a reality.

2. Turn Wedding into an Adventure (More Activities)

Let’s face it – a wedding on the West Coast is probably going to be more memorable to everyone involved than one in the Midwest. Not only is the setting beautiful, but their will usually be many adventurous activities the bridal party and the guests can enjoy before or after the big day, such as shopping, hot air balloon rides, parasailing, cliff diving, golfing, boating, etc. These extra activities offered usually only at a destination wedding can mean the difference from turning it from “run of the mill” to completely unforgettable.

3. Weather is Often Better

Having a fall wedding in Minnesota, Wisconsin or Washington can be asking for trouble. Nobody wants theirs in the middle of a snow storm, and surely nobody wants to attend it in those conditions.

4. Can Be More Intimate (Most Guests Won’t Come)

The bride and groom to be have to really make some hard decisions when it comes to how many people they want at their wedding, who to invite and who to leave out. Everyone has acquaintances , co-workers, family friends, etc., that they feel like they should invite the wedding, but their wedding budget doesn’t allow for all of the guests they would prefer.

A destination wedding quickly eliminates this predicament. The people who come to the wedding are often the bride and groom’s family and closest friends. This is ideal because it allows the wedding to be more intimate and the bride and groom aren’t stuck deciding which people to invite and not invite.

5. All-Inclusive Destination Weddings are Often Cheaper for the Bride and Groom

Yes, it’s true. Buying an all-inclusive wedding package from one source is often cheaper than paying for individual items and services from dozens of different professionals. Furthermore, less people at the wedding means less food, drinks, wedding favors, invitations, etc., meaning the savings are passed on to the bride and groom.

The biggest reason, however, that a destination wedding can be cheaper than a traditional wedding, is

Adventure sports in Uttaranchal!

Article by Thomas Thottathil

In the last few years Uttaranchal has become synonymous with adventure and winter sports. The Kumoan and the Garhwal have numerous rivers with snow clad mountains which have been developed as destinations for white water rafting, boating, water skiing, angling, skiing, para gliding, hang gliding etc and more tourists are heading this way every winter to experience truly unforgettable moments.

White water rafting in the untamed rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi are marked out for experts but when they merge at Devprayag to form the Ganga the rapids are more suitable for amateurs under the supervision of experts. The negotiable stretch of the Ganges is from Kaudiyala to Rishikesh where the river has 12 major rapids over 36-kms long stretch. Many private operators have their base at Rishikesh and Shivpuri (13 kms upstream from Rishikesh) and conduct activities on the river. The Yamuna between Mori and Tuni offers rapids that tourists can brave and the Mandakini between Chandrapuri and Rudraprayag and the rapids on Kali Ganga are for professionals.

Uttaranchal tourism has recently developed a ‘still water’ sports resort at Assan Barrage, in the Dehradun district, which is located at the foothills of the Shiwaliks and on the banks of river Yamuna. The resort is only 40-kms drive from Dehradun on the Dehradun-Chandigarh highway. It offers activities like water skiing, speed boating, paddle boating, rowing, sailing, Canoeing and Kayaking.

The large slopes of Garhwal and Kumaon covered with seasonal snow are ideal place for skiing in the winter months. Auli, 14kms from Joshimath is probably the most well known Skiing destination in this part of the world. A 3 kms long slope ranging from a height of 2519 mts. to 3049 mts is a major attraction. Dayara Bugyal 28kms from Uttarkashi, Munsyari in the Pithorgarh district and Mundali in the Dehradun district are other skiing bases in the state.

Paragliding and parasailing are other favourites among tourists. There are also parasailing activities offered in other tourist destinations in the state like Mussorie, Rishikesh, Naukutchiyatal in Nainital, Dayara Bugyal and Pratap Nagar.

Mt Arapiles is more than just a rock climbing Paradise

Article by Sidney Morgan

Horsham Victoria, population approximately 14,500, is the regional center and biggest town in Victoria’s Wimmera region. The town was originally settled as the main transport center for the produce and grains that grow in the Wimmera Plains. While it is still an important center for that reason, it is also known as the jumping off point for rock climbers who come to the region because of the world famous Grampian and Mount Arapiles mountain climbing areas.

You can’t miss Mount Arapiles when you are traveling along the Wimmera Highway. It juts proudly out of the surrounding landscape almost as dramatically as Australia’s most famous “rock” – Uluru. You can easily pass through the tiny town of Natimuk, the nearest town to Arapiles, though. Aside from a couple of businesses for locals, Natimuk is dedicated to servicing the needs of the tens of thousands of rock climbers who make the pilgrimage to this world famous rock climbing Mecca each year.

A large campground sits at the base of Mount Arapiles. The campground has all the basic amenities like toilets and showers, but its main attraction is the mix of campers who stay there. You hear French, German, Japanese and other foreign languages being spoken all around you. Fortunately, many of the visiting rock climbers also speak English, so at night, everyone gathers into groups around their campfires to discuss their day’s adventures on the cliffs and swap notes about climbing routes and gear.

It is a bit of a shame that Arapiles is known only for rock climbing, because the region around the cliffs is fantastic to explore on foot or on a mountain bike. Particularly during wildflower season, it can be spectacularly beautiful and as much of a bird watcher’s heaven as it is a rock climber’s nirvana.

Horsham is only 16 miles (26 km) from Arapiles and so is the place where rock climbers go to stock up on food. Once they discover Horsham, they often opt to stay in a more comfortable accommodation there or make it an overnight stopover before they proceed on the next leg of their rock climbing adventure.

The Grampians lie just 46 miles (75 km) from Horsham. While there are dozens of comfortable camping grounds within Grampians National Park, some of the more popular rock climbing areas are very difficult to access. Some of the climbing routes, too, are very challenging and many climbers find themselves “benighted” before they reach the end of a rigorous multi-pitch climb. They revel in this experience, though, and can’t wait to share their adventures with others back at Mount Stapylton campground, one of the most “luxurious” in the Grampians and the one closest to the easier climbs in Summer Day Valley.

While Horsham has in the past often been overlooked as a holiday destination, more and more tourists are discovering its charms. For one thing, it has a large arts and crafts community who showcase their creations in the town. For another, all the produce that grows in the Wimmera finds its way first to Horsham and is featured in the freshly cooked and hearty meals served in the a lot of restaurants and cafes in town. Finally, your Horsham accommodation is going to be far more luxurious than your Grampians or Arapiles campground. Next time you’re in the area, treat yourself to a break from the road or the rocks and stay in Horsham.

Harbin Ice Festival

Article by China Connection Tours

Located in northeast of China, Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province, is recognized as home town of the ice and snow culture in the world and is famous for its exquisite sculptures. Geographically, it is under the direct influence of the cold winter wind from Siberia. The average temperature in summer is 21.2 degrees Celsius, -16.8 degrees Celsius in winter. It can be as cold as – 38.1 degrees Celsius in winter.

The annual Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival started since 1963. Its roots lie in the simple ice lanterns used by the peasants and fishermen of northeast China during the cold winter months. It had been interrupted for a number of years during the Cultural Revolution until it was resumed in 1985. This is China’s greatest ice artwork festival and attracts hundreds of thousands visitors from home and abroad. Today the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival has become one of the world’s four largest ice and snow festivals, along with Japan’s Sapporo Snow Festival, Canada’s Quebec City Winter Carnival, and Norway’s Ski Festival.

Every year, ice for the festival comes from Songhuajiang River, the river nearby which freezes meters thick during the winter time. Blocks of snow and ice are sculpted into actual life-size shapes of subjects ranging from animals, high buildings to the bridges, ice slides, etc. You also have chance to see some world

Skateboards Buying Guide

Article by Camille Parker

Skateboarding is fun and inexpensive and you do not require a team to go skateboarding. It is more than a fun activity as it benefits your body in many ways You will increase your muscle endurance, flexibility, and burn as much calories as are burnt by running but without affecting your joints. You can also customize your skateboard according to your personal needs and requirements, but if you are a beginner, it is recommended that you should prefer pre-built complete skateboards. Following are some guidelines to help you in buying an appropriate skateboard for enjoying various skateboarding tricks:

Style and comfort

Before buying a skateboard, it is very important to decide the style of skateboard according to the type of skating preferred. Skateboards come in three styles- street, park (or ramp), and longboards. Street and ramp skateboards are almost same and the difference lies in the size of the wheels. Buy a street skateboard if your skating involves flip tricks or grinds, and you like skating on the streets. If you like skating at the skate park or vert ramps, then prefer buying the ramp style skateboard. Longboards are used for either downhill racing or transportation and sidewalk surfing. It’s important that the skates offer comfort and rigid ankle support.

Choosing the deck

Before choosing a deck, knowing its size and style is very important. Ramp tricks can be made easier with the help of a wider deck but flip tricks are difficult to perform with it. Flip tricks or street skating can be easily performed with the skateboards having smaller decks. But a person who wants to learn both the styles (street and ramps) should look for a skateboard deck that is neither too wide nor too narrow. If you want to use skateboards for transportation purpose, then prefer buying the bigger boards.

Selecting the wheels and trucks

Choosing the right size and hardness of your skateboard wheels is very important. The size and hardness of the skateboard wheels may vary according to the type of skating preferred. For performing tricks like kickflips and ollies, the street skaters prefer small and hard wheels. Hard wheels are also preferable for vert skating. The size of trucks to be used depends upon the size of wheels and deck. Trucks of greater height require higher wheels and your truck size should be within 1/4″ of the size of the deck.

Ice Skating on Frozen Ponds

Article by Drew Mers

One can move on ice indoors or outdoors, even in frozen bodies of water. Many skaters sometimes prefer to skate on a frozen pond rather than on man-made indoor ice rinks, for the inherent fun in skating on naturally-occurring ice surfaces. It must be remembered though that whenever you skate on frozen waterways, there are intrinsic dangers that you should be aware of.

The most important risk when skating on frozen ponds is that of falling onto broken ice. This happens whenever a skater unknowingly glides on weak ice. This can be fatal, as it is very difficult to climb out of the freezing water with the weight of the thick garments and the ice skates. Skaters risk drowning and suffering from hypothermia with these falls, especially when they are skating alone on frozen bodies of water. Natural ice is very unpredictable; it can crack even when you think it has sufficient thickness to accommodate your weight. To decrease this risk of falling into freezing water, you will need to avoid the edges of rivers, ponds, or lakes, because edges harbor vegetation, and therefore the temperature in these areas is higher, and higher temperatures mean thinner and weaker ice. Also avoid areas which are receiving sunlight the most, as the temperature is higher also in these areas. To personally check if the ice is hard enough, you can throw rocks, sticks or stones on ice, to see how much pressure and weight it takes for the ice to break.

Another disadvantage of skating on frozen ponds is the absence of railings on the side, which prove to be very helpful for the beginners out there for balance. Railings are available in indoor rinks for support and for skating along. In frozen ponds, however, you risk falling on your bottom and possibly injuring yourself because of the absence of support.

Skating on frozen ponds also require thicker clothing than those used in indoor rinks, as the temperatures are far lower in naturally occurring rinks. Thus, inches upon inches of clothing should be worn to adequately keep you warm. These offer an added benefit in that they give protection if you fall.

Nothing may beat the awesome feeling of one skating on a frozen pond while the snow is falling, but it is definitely much safer is you skate on a real ice skating rink. Come to think of it, you can have fun with friends, while at the same time avoiding the potential dangers, when you choose real ice skating rinks instead. Safety is a must.

Mountain Bike Rims

Article by James Gunaseelan

Depending on the discipline of mountain biking undertaken, the type of mountain bike rims on the bike will either help or harm the rider. For cross-country, freerider and jumping, sturdier, heavier mountain bike rims will help keep the bike in service. However, for some forms of trail riding where less weight and better maneuverability is desired, lighter rims may be a better choice. In most cases the front and back mountain bike rims are matched, not only for appearance but also for stability. A heavier wheel on one end or the other can throw off the balance of the entire bike and cause major problems when performing jumps or tricks on the bike. Choosing mountain bike rims based on the type of riding to be done, is more than a personal choice. It is also necessary to accomplish the ride.

Some mountain cross riders, as well as dirt jumpers may use different types of tires. If they are going to go from one type of riding to another frequently, they will usually have the different tires mounted on different mountain bike rims for quick changes to the second style. One of the aspects of mountain biking is the riders being hard on their bikes. Especially downhill runners who frequently confront jumps and falls, the mountain bike rims are going to take a beating more severe than simply casual riding down the city sidewalks. If the rim cannot withstand the abuse, it will bend in one or more spots making the bike impossible to ride. It can also cause adverse effects to the tire, brake pads and the chain.

Keeping the spokes at the proper tension on mountain bike rims is also important and some riders do this by simply listening. A dull thud when tapped with a screwdriver is an indication the spoke may need tightened. By appropriately adjusting the spokes according to manufacturer specifications, damage to the mountain bike rims can be diminished. Even a slight bend on the edge of the mountain bike rims can create problems if it interferes with the brake pads. Having to jump over a small dimple or protrusion can quickly ruin the pads, making the bike more difficult to stop. Since the mountain bike rims are the one item on the bike that is going faster than everything else, anything that could cause them to come to a sudden, unexpected stop should be repaired or replaced immediately to protect the rest of the bike, including the rider.

Features Of Roadmaster Mountain Bike

Article by James Gunaseelan

You don’t have to be a bike pro to realize that the Roadmaster mountain bike is cheap and is ideally suited for the biker not wanting a whole lot of features other than its thumb shifters that are present instead of levers or twists. You may also not know much about what Sach’s Power Chains are and whether you should have opted for a mountain bike with Viking Titanium Chain or whether you need to know how good or bad are Campagnolo as compared with SRAM derailleur. But, once you have begun to ride your Roadmaster mountain bike, you may very well find that you need to learn more than just how comfortable or not the bike is to ride.

Before buying your Roadmaster mountain bike, you need to also consider a few basic things that will help you get the best from your purchase. Look for comfort of ride; weight of the bike and of course its price. Once you realize that you are getting good value for money and an affordable mountain bike, you will even forgive your Roadmaster mountain bike for its rather cheap and somewhat painful seat. And, it is also ideally suited for anyone on a tight budget. Other than that, anyone that is in need of a reliable mountain bike that allows him or her to even commute on it, this bike has a few advantages and those that have used the Roadmaster mountain bike have generally stuck with their bike for quite a few years.

The Mountain Fury is one of the Roadmaster mountain bike models that you may find a bit heavy to cart about, and if you need to carry it up a few floors to store it in your apartment high up in a building, you will certainly find it rather unsettling. However, once you get it on the trail, the story is quite different and there is no problem with the ride as changing gears is not a problem and you can even attain speeds of about twelve miles per hour in windless conditions, which means you are getting good value for your money.

The trouble with this roadmaster mountain bike is that riding it can be painful to your backside and so you may need to spend a few more dollars and get a cushion to get a more comfortable ride. Another worry for you about the roadmaster mountain bike is that the tires may not last too long, though, for a fifty dollar bike you should not expect more. So, if you don’t mind the weight and like the cheap price, the Mountain Fury Roadmaster mountain bike may be quite a good option.
